Skootchie

Skootchie (formerly Dicey) has been doing wonderfully. We adopted her last year (Dec. 07) at PetSmart, via Kitty Connection. Skootchie is a CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) kitty — basically she’s a “wobbly” cat, she can’t jump up on things or walk a straight line, her coordination/motor skills and vision are off kilter. When we first brought Skootchie home (and for months afterwards), she was unsure of us (we think she might have been neglected) and swatted at us quite a bit, but we’ve been working with her, gaining her trust and the scratches are further and fewer between. She loves to snuggle and follows us around the house like a shadow (albeit a noisy one, as she falls a bit), and she loves sleeping in bed with us every night — she usually claws her way up the side and uses the ottoman and “crash” pillows we’ve put next to the bed to get down. She cannot get enough play, her favorite toys are a mouse tied to a string and three straws taped together (so much for those expensive cat toys! šŸ˜‰ We’ve also built her a ramp to get up to the window seat so she can watch and chatter at all her bird friends. She absolutely loves it. It took a few weeks and a lot of prodding for her to gather up enough nerve to attempt the ramp but now she flies up and down the it. We would like to thank Kitty Connection for rescuing Skootchie, as this was her second time being surrendered to the MSPCA. She’s such a special kitty, we love her so much and can’t imagine our family without her!
