When I adopted Mr. Teddy, I have to admit, at first, I thought I had made a big mistake. The poor guy came complete with an as yet undiagnosed parasite and was terrified of humans. Well, we got the parasite under control with medication and slowly but surely tried working on the trust issues. I’ll jump right to the finish… after only 5 months my Teddy is the most loving, loveable, cuddly cat I have every known! Initially, I did not think he would ever be a lap cat, never mind allowing being picked up. Well, now, when I sit down after dinner, he meows and meows until I sit on the couch so that he can get up on my lap. Days when I work at home he either curls up on my lap or on the chair at my back! He is wonderful!! For all those out there who want “instant love”, please remember that many of these precious animals have been traumatized and are untrusting of any humans because they connect them with their pain. Please give a “tough love” animal a chance. It will be the most amazing and awarding experience of your life.
Because life is better with a cat on your lap!
