It’s been a year since we lost our 23 year old kitty, and almost a year since we rescued Crookshanks (Roy). Beautiful, strong orange tabby. Broken toothed, pieces of ear missing, battle scars everywhere, FIV+, terrible digestive issues, wounds on his neck from nervous scratching, living for the first three months wearing the “Cone of Shame”. He’s still not 100% certain we will keep his food dish full or that we will open the door for him to come in. But he’s grown to be affectionate and VERY playful, has his favorite toys and his favorite spots to hide them in. Overall, he’s learned to trust that our home is his, and we’ve figured out we’re all pretty lucky.
