Rocky might just be the friendliest cat you’re ever likely to meet. Although he was abandoned by someone whom he loved with all his heart, he has not lost his ability to trust or to love. It didn’t take long for this outgoing boy to take to his foster home. In fact, the photos shown were taken within hours of his arrival there. He has a history of doing well with other cats and kids, so we think he’d be good with kids who know how to treat cats respectfully. His fosters say he is quite a talker, always wants to play, and follows them from room to room. As friendly and social as he is, he should go to an interactive home where he will not be left unaccompanied for long periods of time, preferably with another four-legged pal as a playmate.
Rocky has three minor drawbacks, though. First, he’s a bit of a mischievous food thief, so it would be a good idea for his feeding time to coincide with that of his humans so he’ll be less inclined to try to swipe their food (or to be adopted by vegans or vegetarians). Second, like his movie namesake, he’s an early riser, which would not be a drawback for someone else who is also an early riser. Third, he’s a bit of an escape artist, so he should be adopted into a home with a main entrance that does not lead directly outside so he can be kept safely indoors. (Keeping cats inside gives them triple the life expectancy of cats who are allowed outside.) Whoever adopts this boy is going to get a devoted best friend for life. Rocky appears to be an easy cat who seems suitable for a first-time adopter.
He has been neutered, given rabies and distemper vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV and FIV, and treated for worms and fleas. His adopter will receive his medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. He’s being fostered in Boston’s North End.
