One-eyed Shortbread is a big friendly guy, about 4 years old, who was rescued off the street as a frightened, hungry stray. No microchip was detected. His history is a mystery before that. One of his eyes was surgically enucleated, which means someone almost certainly cared for him, as such procedures are not cheap. (This typically happens due to severe eye infections.) He needs no veterinary care for this. He was understandably terrified when he arrived in his foster home, but now he’s an affectionate boy who responds to petting with a warm purr. His foster family says he’s quite a talker and is always glad to see them. Shortbread should be adopted into an interactive home where he’ll get lots of attention and won’t be left unaccompanied for long. We have not observed him with dogs, other cats or kids. We think he’d be OK with kids who know how to treat cats respectfully. Shortbread is world-class cat who will make a great new best friend for anyone who adopts him.
He has been:
– neutered
– given rabies and distemper vaccinations
– tested negative for FeLV and FIV
– treated for worms and fleas
His adopter will receive his medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. He’s being fostered in Roslindale.
