Benny (Courtesy Post)

Benny is a middle-aged gentleman, about ten years old, who belonged to someone who moved and chose not to bring him along.  A neighbor found him meowing plaintively outside his former home and took him in, but could not keep him.

Benny was clearly not taken care of very well previously.  He came with severe dental disease and was in pain whenever he ate.  He needed several teeth extracted, which has been done, so his dental health is now excellent.  He also has a cauliflower ear that would have been preventable through simple ear drops once or twice per week, which he now receives.  Benny also has a food allergy that is controlled through medication given on alternating days, and which requires him to be fed hypoallergenic prescription food.  It is not expensive, about the same price as high-end cat food purchased at pet-supply stores.  None of this is difficult.

Benny does not do well with cats or dogs.  He hides from small children, but he would probably do well with older children who aren’t very loud and who know how to treat cats respectfully.

Benny is a friendly boy who like to likes play with toys and be pet.  He is a world-class cat who will be a devoted companion and provide lots of love and warmth to the home of whoever adopts him.

Benny has been:
– neutered
– vaccinated against rabies and distemper
– tested negative for FeLV and FIV
– treated for worms and fleas
– examined and determined to be healthy by a vet

His adopter will receive his medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need.  We know that the world does not beat a path to cats like Benny, so that fee has been discounted to a mere $25– a bargain for a new best friend who will love you for the rest of his life.  He’s being fostered in Somerville.

Cats can live up to 20 years, so give careful thought to the changes that are likely to occur in your life during that time. If you can and will commit to him and provide a safe, loving home for life, then respond to RoyCBarrows@gmail.com. Please include your phone number for a faster response and say a little about yourself and the home you would provide for him as we try to match people with the right cats.
