Eight-year-old Chai is a torbie (tortoiseshell coloring mixed with tabby stripes) who needs a home due to her human family moving to a place she can’t follow. She’s a curious girl who enjoys playing with feather toys and curling up in boxes. She’s not a lap cat, but she is a greet-you-at-the-door cat, a rub-against-your-leg cat, a touch-you-with-her-paw-to-get-your-attention cat, and a curl-up near-you cat. She gets over-stimulated from petting sometimes, so she would not do well in a home with young children, and would do best adopted by someone experienced enough with cats to understand this nuance, ideally into a quiet home where she won’t be left unaccompanied for long. When it comes to other cats, it takes a while for her to get comfortable with them, and then they have to understand that she’s an alpha personality who can be playful, in a rough-and-tough-older-sibling kind of way– not a bully, just to let everyone know that she’s the boss. We have not observed her with dogs. Chai will be a devoted companion for life to anyone willing to make a loving, lifetime commitment to her.
She has been:
– spayed
– given rabies and distemper vaccinations
– tested negative for FeLV and FIV\
– examined by a vet and determined to be healthy.
Her adopter will receive her medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. In Chai’s case, that fee has been reduced to a mere $65– a bargain for a new best friend who will come to love you for the rest of her life. She’s in Melrose.
Cats can live up to 20 years, so give careful thought to the changes that are likely to occur in your life during that time. If you can and will commit to her and provide a safe, loving home for life, then respond to RoyCBarrows@gmail.com– this is the most direct way to proceed. Please include your phone number for a faster response and say a little about yourself and the home you would provide for her, as we try to match people with the right cats.
